FAQs

What is an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)? An IOP is a structured therapeutic program that provides comprehensive mental health or substance use treatment. It allows individuals to maintain their daily responsibilities while receiving support and guidance through group therapy, individual counseling, and skill-building sessions.

Who is IOP for? IOP is designed for individuals who need more support than traditional outpatient therapy but do not require inpatient care. It’s ideal for those transitioning from residential treatment or those seeking structured help while continuing their daily routines.

What does a typical IOP schedule look like? A typical IOP involves attending therapy sessions 3-5 days per week for 3-4 hours per day. Sessions include a combination of group therapy, individual counseling, and skill-building workshops.

How long does IOP last? The duration of IOP varies depending on individual needs but typically ranges from 8 to 12 weeks. Progress is regularly evaluated to ensure the program continues to meet your recovery goals.

Is IOP covered by insurance? Many insurance providers cover IOP as part of mental health or substance use treatment benefits. We recommend contacting your insurance company or our office for specific coverage details. Note that we recently received a grant to help support those without insurance! Call in today to get an evaluation scheduled and we can work with individuals to connect them to resources needed to get started.

Can I work or attend school while in IOP? Yes, IOP is designed to accommodate your daily responsibilities. Sessions are often scheduled in the mornings or evenings to fit your work or school commitments.

What types of therapy are included in IOP? IOP includes evidence-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing. Group sessions focus on skill-building, relapse prevention, and emotional regulation.

How do I enroll in IOP? Enrollment begins with an initial assessment to determine if IOP is the right fit for your needs. Contact our office to schedule an evaluation and take the first step toward recovery.

What support is available after completing IOP? After completing IOP, individuals often transition to less intensive outpatient therapy or support groups. We provide aftercare planning to ensure continued success in your recovery journey and therapeutic interventions that are lower levels of care to accommodate client needs.

How do I know if IOP is right for me? If you’re unsure whether IOP is the right level of care, our team can help evaluate your needs during an initial consultation. Contact us to learn more and start the conversation.

Is transportation offered? We are able to pickup and drop off throughout Atlantic County and do so for clients in need of transportation services. Pickup and drop off times change due to need and usage.
